Happy Summer!

I wish you all a safe and relaxing summer. I also wanted to thank all those students and parents who spoilt me with thank you gifts and cards. What a nice way to end the school year knowing you appreciated all my efforts with your children.

Warmest wishes and luck next school year.

Slipper/Comfy Sock Day

Tomorrow I have made it our Slipper or Comfy Sock Day by allowing the students to bring in a pair of slippers or comfy socks to wear while in the classroom. Of course, they will need to change back into their regular shoes when outside for lunch, recess and PE.

We hope to see you at tomorrow's portfolio sharing at 9:45 in the computer room.

A Message to My Students

"You're a very special person,
And I wanted you to know,
How much I enjoyed being your teacher,
How fast the year did go!

Please come back to visit me
As through the grade you grow
Try hard to learn all that you can
There is so much to know!

The one thing I tried to teach you
To last your whole life through
Is to know that you are SPECIAL
There's no one else like you!"

Last Week of the School Year

Well, can you believe that we are in our last week of the school year? It is hard to believe. I have enjoyed watching your children grow, both academically and personally. I thank you all for your support in this journey. On Thursday, I will be sending home a summer packet, that I would encourage your children to work through over the vacation period. Hopefully this will help your child maintain the level he/she has reached this school year.

Just a reminder that on Thursday, your children will share their electronic portfolios with you. We will meet you at Mrs. Baralt's computer lab at 9:45. Please let me know in advanced if you can't make it so I can arrange for someone else to sit with your child.

On Friday morning, the students will move from classroom to classroom participating in a variety of activities lead by the second grade teachers. I will lead a dance activity and welcome anyone who would like to join in and dance. After these activities, the students will have ice-cream sundaes for snack and then go to PE before early dismissal.

I wish you a wonderful summer and please keep in touch. I always love receiving emails during my break to see what you are all up to.

Sharing Electronic Porfolios

I would like to invite you all to come join your second grader on Thursday, May 27th at 9:45-10:30 to view their electronic portfolio. The students will sit with you and share some of the great work they have done this year in second grade, that has been scanned onto the computer. We will be meeting at Mrs. Baralt's computer lab. Hope to see you all there.

Splash Day!

Splash Day will be held this Friday, May 14 during P.E. Children can either wear their swimmers to school under their uniform (don't forget to send them with a change of underwear and a towel) or change into them before participating. If your child wants to participate, waivers, which were sent home last Friday, need to be signed and return by May 14th.

The students did a fabulous job creating posters about people in their chosen Asian country. They also did an amazing job presenting this information in front of their classmates. Their confidence has definately grown this year with regard to speaking infront of an audience. Congratulations, Second Grade!
